הרצאתו ד"ר מוטי פרימן:

Computational Medical Imaging:
from three-dimensional anatomy to quantitative physiology

Moti Freiman, Ph.D.

Instructor in Radiology, Harvard Medical School

Research Fellow, Computational Radiology Laboratory.

Dept. of Radiology, Boston Children's hospital, Boston, MA

Three-Dimensional Medical imaging using Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) revolutionized medical practice since its introduction to the medical community. Computational approaches in medical imaging are now featuring three-dimensional modeling of anatomical structures and pathologies. Modern treatment paradigms, however, are heavily relied on the assessment of physiological activity in the disease sites rather than on the anatomical information solely. The quantification of physiological information from 3D medical imaging data imposes multiple new computational challenges.

The lecture will describe a new computational approach for the quantification of tissue micro-structure and micro-circulation from Diffusion-Weighted MRI data. The development of a spatially-constrained physiological model, named "Incoherent-Motion MRI" along with the introduction of the "Fusion Bootstrap Moves" solver to infer the IM-MRI model parameters from the DW-MRI data will be addressed. Furthermore, the lecture will present the impact of utilizing the new IM-MRI physiological model to the assessment of inflammatory activity in Crohn's disease.
